During our investigations into visualising Facebook activity, we decided to transcribe all our Facebook activity from around the time of the referendum. Turning all that information into lines of text appealed to us in its simplification and homogenisation.
We began to experiment with the idea of turning these lines of text into flows of water. What if we could compare a variety to Facebook activity in such a way? After all our forays into fish and the internet, it felt like we had a direction that was intriguing, reflective but not completely bonkers and unachievable!
We began looking for participants from across the country to provide us with their Facebook activity from the week preceding the EU referendum. We hoped to travel the country, recording the places where our participants lived with the plan to combine this with the flows of text to create a dynamic reflection of a moment of online history.
